Dear IVF-Worldwide Members,

We bring you an important new publication that challenges long-held assumptions and provides critical clarification in reproductive medicine. A comprehensive new systematic review published this week in Reproductive BioMedicine Online reveals that endometrial scratching with multiple-biopsy protocols may benefit carefully selected patients.

Landmark systematic review

Meta-analysis: by the numbers
This is not another small study. This is the most comprehensive individual participant data (IPD) meta-analysis to date:

  • 4,112 patients

  • 13 trustworthy randomized controlled trials based on individual participant data

  • 20+ years of research

Overall results:
Modest but statistically significant improvement in live birth rates (OR 1.29, 95% CI 1.02-1.64)

Why it matters: biological heterogeneity
The authors reveal a critical insight that explains decades of conflicting research.

Clinical recommendations
Rather than abandoning the practice, the authors advocate at least for a targeted approach.

The clinical bottom line
The evidence suggests endometrial scratching deserves reconsideration.
