Dear Friend of Athena Fund,

As 2020 comes to a close, I'm hopeful that the new year will bring an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing us all to return to our welcome routine.

In spite of the challenges raised by the global pandemic during 2020, we at Athena Fund continued to provide our "digital toolbox" to school and kindergarten teachers all over Israel, In doing so, we continued to fulfill our mission of empowering teachers and giving them essential work tools.

We are excited to see that the importance of equipping teachers with a personal laptop computer and professional training is filtering down to Israelis from all walks of life. However, we have much more ground to cover, and the existence and activities of Athena Fund are more vital today than ever.

When the pandemic began, tens of thousands of Israeli teachers were not ready to teach remotely. However, this was not the case for school and kindergarten teachers who had participated in our "Digital Toolbox for Every Teacher" program and received professional training. These teachers were able to embrace this unexpected change and provide their students with interesting and effective learning even outside the school gates.

Without the support of donors like you, especially during this pandemic, Athena Fund would not have been able to carry on and succeed. Your generous support today will help us provide our "digital toolbox" to additional teachers waiting to join the program. This way, they will receive the advanced tools needed to educate and elevate the future generations of Israel.

At this time I am excited to present to you with a summary of our activities this past year, and I look forward to continuing our cooperation in 2021.

Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season,

Uri Ben-Ari

Changing Learning, Strengthening Teachers

"For years, we, the teachers, have been talking about meaningful teaching and bringing technology into the classrooms, yet we continued teaching the traditional way. COVID-19 has completely changed the status quo. Instead of being a learning aid, the computer has quickly become the main teaching and study tool.

"We are on a verge of a new era, one which prepares students to the challenges of the 21st century, and we are here as mediators and supporters. These challenges of the new era, amplified by the need to teach and study remotely, require access to technological tools, which are not always available...

This year we celebrated our "bar mitzvah" – 13 years of extensive activity, of sounding the alarm and addressing the challenges faced by the Israeli education system. This year, at last, we have seen the first flashes of light at the end of the tunnel.  Continue Reading
