Praying for an end/Mark Elliott Shapiro
This is the second year In a row That the candles are burning bright On Hanukkah When we still have Hostages—women and men, Children, and elderly persons— Across the border In the Gaza Strip Therefore, I pray That I shall very soon See the day When there will be An end An end To the suffering Of the hostages An end To the Suffering of their families I pray For the day That I shall see The brightly lit faces Of those Who will welcome With fear and excitement With a joy that has known torment I pray For the day That I shall see The brightly lit faces Of those Who will hug Cautiously and with sensitivity Those who will return From the darkness That was the Gaza Strip, That narrow strip, That strangling strip I pray for the day
